Get to Know Benjamin
Benjamin Gifford is the Vice President of Top Games Inc., a distinguished figure in the gaming industry since 2009. Ben operates on a ‘design, build, and break’ philosophy, rapidly identifying and capitalizing on game industry and technology trends. He focuses on quick iterations to refine offerings based on real-world feedback. It isn’t about spending extensive time on perfection, as studios that do so tend to be surpassed by more agile developers. The approach is to get a great product or update out as quickly as possible, gather and listen to feedback, then polish and iterate. This way, you can quickly pivot if things aren’t working, and aim for a moonshot if they are.
Cross-genre Strategy
Our spirit of innovation is reflected in our cross-genre strategy, which broadens our audience and enriches the gaming experience with unique and novel elements. This approach is like offering various flavors of ice cream, inviting players to explore new ones they might enjoy. For example, integrating puzzle gameplay into the core mechanics of Evony has significantly increased retention rates among players who typically prefer puzzle games and would not have otherwise downloaded the game, thereby fostering a more active and diverse community.
Exploring Other Game Types
While Evony remains our flagship product, TGI is exploring other game types to diversify our portfolio and meet evolving market demands. Our goal is to create a balanced array of games catering to both hardcore and casual gamers across various genres. This strategic diversification helps us attract new user segments while keeping our existing base engaged with innovative content.
